Tutorial: Adding your e-mail to your Blogger blog

I love being able to respond and chat with the lovely people that take the time to comment on my blog.  I struggle with the "reply" to comment thing that you can do on the page where the blog post has been published because I wonder if anyone even knows if I've replied right there on my blog.  I don't feel like someone would go back to the post I wrote and look to see if I responded to their comment.  I know I don't do that, and maybe there are a bunch of who do, so if that is the case, let me know!

The easiest way for me to respond to your comment, and know that you saw the response, is if I can reply right in my email.  I have my account set up to send me an email when I get a comment on a blog post I've written.  Once the email is in my inbox I can then respond to the comment right then and there by hitting reply and writing an email.  It then gets sent right to the commenter's inbox.  Bingo Bango!

However, if you don't have your email account linked up- I can't do that.  Instead, this is what I see:
Sorry EndoJoanna for calling you out like this... it was the first series of emails in my inbox today! :-)

So, how do you get the emails to your inbox and link your email account to blog so when you comment people can respond to you?

There are two things you have to do:

First log in and then you'll see your dashboard... (unless you have it switched to the new Blogger interface-then you'll see something else!)

 Click on Settings
Once there you'll see a bunch of different tabs
Click on Comments

Scroll down and add your email address in these two places, then hit Save.

Also, you can change your comment moderation-meaning approve comments- to happen so you only have to do it after a certain number of days has passed on a post- to never or to always.  The choice is yours.

You can also change your word verification setting-which is when you have to type a word in order to publish your comment-to on or off. I know sometimes this defers me from leaving a comment if I have little time to read blogs or catch up, but again... the choice is yours!

The second thing you have to do is:

Go back to your dashboard and click on Edit Profile

Once in there you'll see your Identity- add your email address in there.
Then you are done and easy to contact! :-)

Please let me know if you have any other questions on any other settings. I've been a blogger for years and know Blogger pretty well!

Sorry Wordpress friends, I don't know how to help you, but if anyone does and is willing to help others with this, let me know and I can share that!
